Given the scarcity of Cuban film, this Grand Prix Écrans Juniors’ Cannes award winning pre from VH-PROD comes as a genuine and welcome surprise. Telling the tale of two children and the tensions that manifest and threaten their friendship this work from Juan Carlos Cremata Malberti and Iraida Malberti Cabrera is lighthearted and exploratory cinema. I am looking forward to watching this largely out of curiosity and my interest in film and in addition because it promises to be a good story

Slow night here, so I thought I’d post a film about some chick with a vegetarian restaurant and thunderthighs. THUNDERTHIGHS I TELL YOU! If I don’t tell you anything about this film, look at the screenshots and it pretty much says it all; it’ll get you there whether you’re 16 and not allowed porn yet cause it’s just softcore enough, and yet apparently still legitimate cinema. It’s been a good week for documentaries and Louie Psihoyo’s work examining the brutal slaughter of Dolphins by the Japanese continues the trend. Part agitprop, part “special op’s” mission this is at times an insightful piece but does have some flaws as it does not offer a complete canvas of the issues.
